Connect Ultrakoki Scale to Brew Better

Brew Better supports Ultrakoki scales on iOS and Android. Connect your scale from Brew Better’s Bluetooth page, not in your device’s Bluetooth settings. This guide covers setup and what to check if your scale does not appear. If you are still choosing a brewing app, read our Ultrakoki app alternative guide first.

Download on the App Store or Get it on Google Play before following the steps below.

Before You Connect

Before connecting your Ultrakoki scale, make sure:

  1. Bluetooth is enabled on your device — Open your phone or tablet’s settings and turn on Bluetooth.
  2. Your Ultrakoki scale is powered on — Press the power button and wait for the display to show the weight reading.
  3. Brew Better is open — Launch the Brew Better app on your phone or tablet.
  4. Other scale connections are closed — Disconnect the Ultrakoki app and any other app or device using the scale before scanning in Brew Better.

Note: You do not need to pair your Ultrakoki scale in your device’s Bluetooth settings. Brew Better connects directly to the scale.

How to Connect Your Ultrakoki Scale

There are two ways to connect your Ultrakoki scale in Brew Better:

Method 1: Via the Bluetooth Banner

On the home screen, you’ll see a Bluetooth status banner at the top. Tap it to enter the Bluetooth connection page. The app will automatically start scanning for nearby scales. When your Ultrakoki scale appears in the list, tap it to connect.

Method 2: Via the Brew Button

Tap the brew button at the bottom of the home screen to start a new brew. If no scale is connected, the app will prompt you to connect one. You’ll be taken to the Bluetooth page where scanning begins automatically.

If Your Ultrakoki Scale Doesn’t Appear

If scanning completes without finding your Ultrakoki scale:

  1. Check that Bluetooth is on. On iOS, grant Brew Better Bluetooth permission; on Android, grant Nearby devices permission when prompted. Older Android versions may request location permission for BLE scanning.
  2. Keep the scale powered on and close to your phone or tablet.
  3. Disconnect any other app or device that is connected to the scale.
  4. Tap Start Scanning at the bottom of Brew Better’s Bluetooth page to scan again.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

If you’re having trouble connecting your Ultrakoki scale:

  1. Restart your scale — Turn off your Ultrakoki scale, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
  2. Close and reopen Brew Better — Sometimes a fresh start helps establish the connection.
  3. Check the scale’s charge — Low battery can cause connection issues. Check it on the scale; Brew Better does not read Ultrakoki battery status.

Understand Ultrakoki’s Dual-Weight Data

On a supported dual-weight Ultrakoki setup, water-in tracks water added to the brewer and coffee-out tracks the beverage collected below. These are separate readings: water can remain in the coffee bed while coffee continues dripping into the server. Brew Better uses the channels to plot pour-rate and drip-rate curves, so you can review pouring and drainage separately.

The app also records timer and temperature data when the scale reports them and listens for the scale’s brewing-complete signal. Available readings depend on your supported Ultrakoki setup; a generic interface screenshot is not proof of a particular model’s capabilities.

Use the Physical Scale Controls

Tare and start, stop, or reset timing using the controls on your Ultrakoki scale. Brew Better reads the scale’s data; it does not send remote tare or timer commands. Keep the Ultrakoki app for firmware updates, device configuration, and brand-specific modes, and disconnect it before using Brew Better.

Start Brewing

With your Ultrakoki scale connected, arrange the brewer and server as directed for your model. Tare and start timing on the scale, then pour. Follow the incoming readings in Brew Better and review the recorded curves after the brew.
